FEED QUEST¶
Synopsis¶
FeedQuest is a free, easy to use, computer game designed for parents to play out mealtimes with a young child. Play with a child character which is aligned to have similar traits as your own child, set up mealtimes in a virtual home, and try out feeding strategies, then you can see what works, and what doesn't, for getting your child to eat vegetables!
How it works¶
Players are asked to play the game with a real child in mind. It's aimed at parents of a child aged 1.5-4 years, but anyone can play if they wish! During the character build you'll be asked some questions about whether you child is a fussy eater and how emotional they tend to be - this is so the child character reacts to food in a similar to your child in real life. You can also change some of the characters looks to mirror those of your child (skin colour, hair colour etc.) You play with your child character in a virtual house consisting of a kitchen, dining area and living room. First, you'll be asked to put together a plate of food, and the plate must contain some broccoli! You can then interact with the child character and set up a mealtime as you would at home, for instance: at a table, on the sofa, with the TV on or off, with you eating as well, there are many options - and you can talk to the child as well! Once you're happy with the mealtime set up you can give your child the food and see what their reaction is ...ideally the child avatar will "happily eat the broccoli", however, they may not! Then it's up to you if you'd like to try out other strategies to see what might work for your child.
